Breast Cancer is the most common cancer in the UK. Approximately 20% of these patients develop secondary lymphoedema of the arm following treatment for breast cancer. Lymphoedema is defined as tissue swelling due to the failure of lymph drainage. After breast cancer, a person may experience psychological or emotional difficulties due to altered body image, and a swollen limb can exacerbate this.
RLD is an award winning NHS funded reflexology technique, which focuses on stimulating the lymphatic reflexes on the feet. Helping to restore and maintain balance within the body and to encourage the body’s natural healing process.
Patients treated with RLD feel more confident, their clothing is significantly looser, their arms feel lighter and less tight, less firm, their underarm swelling decreased, significant improved shoulder and arm mobility and less self-management is required.
There are many other conditions that may benefit from the technique for example:
- Weight loss
- Sinus problems
- Pre-menstrual Syndrome
